RE: Upgrade from 5.03 on AIX

Hi Cathy!
We have a customer in guatemala that was experiencing many bugs from
5.03 and we upgraded them to 5.07 and no problem at all. We used the =
old
dbexport just to have everything recreated because their database was=20
just that bad too. Their configuration consists of a RAID level 5 AIX =
3.2.x, 12 gigabytes database,
have just created an archive level 0 , tested the restore and no =
problems at=20
all, the client has 8mm tapes 5 gigabytes of capacity and remember that
AIX recommends 1024 for the block size in this case for better =
performance ( we changed it within the tbconfig file) and the tape size =
must be multiple of the block size, just make sure to verify the =
parameters for the tape on AIX (smit if
you prefer :=3D)
I hope this information can help you,

Asunto: Upgrade from 5.03 on AIX
Folks,
Can anybody give me a warm fuzzy feeling about any of the later
5.xx.xx engine products running on IBM RS6000 machines under AIX 3.25?
We are currently running 5.03.UC2 and would like to upgrade to
something a bit less buggy and more stable. I am particularly
concerned with tbtape bugs as I do want to be able to recover the
database. 7 versions are not an option right now, but will be
in the not too distant future.
Thanks!
Regards,
Cathy
