I respect your cynicism ;-). We're looking at a news feed with 5000 to 8000 postings a day. A lot of things can be true about that feed at the same time. For that reason, I think an engine like robojob can't claim to be more than a measure of the "interest level" for various technologies. I think it is kind of interesting to put numbers on those interest levels. Certainly recruiters have multiple goals, but we can remind ourselves that they don't actually make a buck until they match a candidate with a job. So, while they might be fishing for candidates, they are fishing for what they consider "high quality" candidates. For them, "high quality" means somebody they can place easily. I think it serves engineers to know what skills are placed easily.
