For fans of GUI tools
Posted in 2008
Mostly a discussion rather than a problem report. The poster shared a link to IBM's free Data Studio GUI download for those who prefer graphical tools over dbaccess/onstat. One reply complained that dbaccess is stuck with 80-character line output instead of adapting to the terminal/window width like DB2's command line editor. The suggested route was to file a feature request via the IIUG feature-request page; others noted that list was years out of date, and Art Kagel (IIUG board) said a new feature-request survey was being prepared. No fix or workaround for the dbaccess line-width limit is recorded.

Personally, I've got no idea about this shit, because dbaccess and onstat
is all I ever want or need. But if you like pretty pictures and
clicky-clicky, you might like this:

I'd rather get stuff done, but hey! what do I know? It's not like I'm
developing a multi-billion dollar business strategy to conquer the world!

Must agree... But dbaccess comes up a little short... like only 80 Characters
a line... and then a linefeed... Oh I do remember another utility like that...
Hmmm thats right - the good old teletype... it could go to 134 characters
though...
C'on Obnoxio knock the establishment to at least modernize it a bit... Even
the DB2 command line editor knows about window sizes and wraps the display...
(OMG I mentioned the devil...)

Obnoxio, et al:
That link points to the results from the last IIUG Features Request/V.Next
survey a few years ago. The IIUG board's Most Excellent Survey Committee is
finalizing preparation of a new Features Request Survey based on comments
gathered from the IIUG Forums and at the IIUG Conference in Lenexa, KS this
past May. We will make it available to the community to fill out ranking
the importance of the features you've been asking for, soon. Just dotting
all of the i's and crossing all the t's.
We expect to be able to send out an email request for the community to fill
out the survey sometime before the end of the year and possibly even
earlier.

I can't wait!
But I have my doubts on "earlier than before the end of the year" ;P
Just joking... I'm really looking forward to see this.
Thanks for the update

Art, You have spoiled my fun - I was about to mention a time warp and being stuck August 15, 2006 Ah well... I'm always very pleased to see your comments and responses (I'm a lurker - been doing it for too many years on this forum - but from day 1 you were there... And that is well over a decade ago I believe...) Robert
BTW, I have an article about this in the Insider at the end of the
month.
