Re: When Informix 7.1 for Solaris 2.3????

Definitely 7.1 and Solaris 2.4 go together. On a SPARCserver 1000 we ran 7.1 and Solaris 2.3 as we did not have the Veritas SOftware version that goes with 2.4 on our SPARCstorage array. A massive update/insert into a master file job was clocked at 3hr 35min. By merely changing to Solaris 2.4 the same job with the same DB setup ran in 2hr 56min. The speed up was due entirely to the support of Kernel I/O under 2.4 and the excellant use of KIO by the DSA. I guess one could do the following... : 1. upgrade to 5.04 running Solaris 2.3 : 2. Upgrade Solaris 2.3 to 2.4 : 3.
