I apologize if this is a FAQ, I don't really frequent this list as a sysadmin - the last time was to see why I couldn't run NIS with Informix :-( Is it me, or does Informix really not understand DNS as well as NIS. I gave up on a central password file, and now I'm trying to centralize host administration. But when I turn on DNS (created /etc/resolv.conf) on my database clients - no-one can connect to the server. I've tried fully qualified hostnames in $DBPATH to no avail. If my server is using DNS, the clients are ok, but I guess thats to be expected since the hostname resolution is done on the client. Is anyone using DNS client/server ???
