IDS Updatable RSS on different platforms

I've been asked a question by my sup. Under IDS 11.50.xC4 or better.. if I had an RSS Primary running on HP-UX, could I have a Linux RSS updatable secondary? I know that standard HDR replication isn't cross-platform, but how about RSS? My goal is not to have to purchase another very-expensive HP-UX box to have an RSS updateable secondary IDS server, when I can use a Linux box for that. Thanks in advance for any insight. Why not chuck the HPUX primary? A Linux box would probably be quicker anyway. :o) -- Cheers, Obnoxio The Clown http://obotheclown.blogspot.com I will now proceed to pleasure myself with this fish. -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by OpenProtect(http://www.openprotect.com), and is believed to be clean.
No, RSS technology is just an extension of HDR technology (not much had to change in the code to support RSS type secondaries, nor for a server to become one). All RSS and SDS secondary servers have to be the same platform and IDS version as the primary. Your only option would be to make the secondary an ER replication participant. Art Art S. RSS is based on HDR technology and has the same limitations... Regards. On Tue, Dec 8, 2009 at 9:34 PM, Jonathan Smaby <Jonathan.Smaby@pomona.edu>wrote: > I've been asked a question by my sup.
