Re: Informix Connect
Posted in 2004
Tom couldn't connect to Informix SE from a Windows client — telnet to port 1525 on the server failed, so the sqlexecd listener clearly wasn't accepting connections. The group advised checking sqlexecd's log, which only exists if the daemon was started with the -l option. Tom located the startup script (an rc/init.d script, S90informixse) and found it ran $INFORMIXDIR/lib/sqlexecd with no logging; Paul Watson suggested killing the daemon and restarting it as 'sqlexecd pei -l /tmp/mylogfile', and also showed how sqlhosts, /etc/services and netstat should line up. Tom edited the script to add -l logfiles; no final outcome is recorded.

So I need to look in the file that starts the sqlexecd processes. What file would that be, and where do I find it? (I've tried going thru the docs, but I can't find anything that says one can find the log if it's running, as in my case. You just have to know.) If you can see sqlexecd just shoot it and restart it by hand, it's in $INFORMIXDIR/lib AFAIR Tom wrote: > > So I need to look in the file that starts the sqlexecd processes. > What file would that be, and where do I find it? > > (I've tried going thru the docs, but I can't find anything that says > one can find the log if it's running, as in my case. No, it's not. If it was the line would look like:
$INFORMIXDIR/lib/sqlexecd -l $INFORMIXDIR/sqexecd.log $INFORMIXSERVER
if memory serves (it's been awhile).
Art S. Kagel
I found it, er, them. I have an rc, rc0, rc1, rc2 and rc3. Since my ftp client doesn't convert the Unix EOL characters to Windows, I'm having to screw with it by hand. (I need it to look reasonably normal, so I can read the darn thing.) I'm working on it... On Wed, 21 Apr 2004 13:43:54 -0400, "Art S. Thanks. That's pretty slick. I'm not finding anything that looks like it cranks up sqlexec. But then I don't claim to be able to read Unix. Any chance you could narrow it down a tad further? It should be in /etc/init.d, all the files in /etc/rc?.d should link back to /etc/init.d If they don't I'd expect it to be in /etc/rc2.d and hopefully called something like S80informix Tom wrote: > > Thanks.
