With both SEv5 and OLv7.2, we routinely have had sqlexec connections/threads
more than 50% in excess of our 'user licenses' (because our menu 'driver'
application is also under Informix).
The number of unix users, however, hasn't yet reached this limit. I would
imagine "unix users using informix" (unique ttys in onstat -u) as a
possible measure.
