Thanks to all those who answered my orignal posting re using system calls in
stored procedures in SE 7.1 Since posting I have been in contact with Informix
tech support and have found out that it is a known bug. According to tech
support, system calls do not work in stored procedures under SE 7.1.
Details of the bug are given below.
What I need to do is find some sort of work around. I need to trigger a
system call in Informix using ISQL or a stored procedure. I can't think of
any way of doing this, other than using a system call in a stored procedure,
which cannot of course work. Any suggestions would be welcome. I cannot
upgrade my version of Informix as the version of SE where the bug is fixed is
incompatible with my OS. And I cannot change my OS at this time.
Details of bug from Informix follow:
---------
bugp 59226
Bug: 59226 STORED PROCEDURE USING SYSTEM CALL RETURNS ERRORS 668/1 WHEN
USING STANDARD ENGINE
Date: 1996-09-19 Category: BACKEND
Type: SW
this bug was not reproduced in 7.20 version of Standard Engine.
