Online 7.1 Archiving question.
Posted in 1996
Hi everybody, I'd be really grateful for some advice on this :) We currently use tbtabe to do frequent level 0 archives. This is obviously a problem because tbtape does not verify the tape (for some reason!) We are about to start using transaction logging on our databases. One of our tape drives is 30gb, easy big enough for frequent "level 0" archives. My real questions are these : 1. Would we be better off using Onarchive? or "Onbar" (whatever that is) . 2. How many tape drives do we need? 3? one for the database archive, one for the logical logs and one for Unix? 3. Given that a frequent level 0 archive (or it's equivalent in Onarchive) negates the need for previous logical log backups, do we really only need one tape for logical logs (cycled suitably frequently), residing permanently in one of the tape drives?
