P-code Linker and Librarian
Posted in 1997
Hi, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Here is the code (gzipped tar file) for a P-code linker and Librarian. It is an older version which provides RDSLIB and RDSLINK. RDSLIB uses the system provided ar command to maintain the library (unlike the NewEra-based FGLLIB which is an archive tool as well as maintaining the data structures needed by the linker). Treat RDSLIB as if it was a 'ranlib' command. RDSLINK is a very similar to the NewEra FGLLINK, but it doesn't support incremental linking. RDSSCAN tells you about what is in a p-code file. It compiles OK on Solaris 2.5.1 under GCC 2.7.2.3 and SUNWSpro SC4.0.1; I don't anticipate any major problems on other platforms. If you need to fiddle with the build, look at the top of the Makefile (you may need to add -D_POSIX_SOURCE to get _POSIX_NAME_MAX defined), and in config.h. There is a test procedure: make test There is an install procedure: make BOD; cd BOD; su root -c "./install" If you don't like the defaults, interrupt the procedure and it will tell you which environment variables to set. There are manual pages, and a document on the internal structure of p-code files as it affects RDSLIB/RDSLINK. Yours, Jonathan Leffler (johnl@informix.com) #include <witticism.h>
