Idea of hyperbase is exactly what you wonna do [doesnt require change table tags at all] - store data on server in html table format. and then retrieve or process them using perl5; for example implemantation of SQL statement SELECT database customers, field name, value Smith; will be look in perl like that: [where customers.html already exist in plain html table format ] open (File, "+>customers.html") ; //open_for_reading_&_writing open(File2,">select.html"); //open_for_writing_and_creating while(<File>) //_-reading_text_file_line_by_line { $line=$_; //$_-current_line_of_reading_file if substr($line,"Smith") then print File2, $line; //$line_-_means_string_variable } close(File); close(File2); result of this statement will be written into select.html file So, you do not need to modify HTML at all because customers.html table below is completely cover the all your needed data: <table> <tr><td>name</td><td><age></td><td>etc.</td></tr> <tr><td>Smith</td><td><18></td><td>...</td></tr> <tr><td>Pit</td><td><28></td><td>...</td></tr> <tr><td>John</td><td><29></td><td>...</td></tr> ..... <tr><td>Macswell</td><td><30></td><td>...</td></tr> </table> you can use this idea in your work without any reference to me, because I mention my copyright only for information purposes, but if you will, please put my name somewhere in parentnesses *-D sincerely vladimir mahlin
