GLS DB and non GLS clients

Hi, we will have our DB in ISO-Latin2, using GLS. It will be converted from PC-Latin2 codepage. We have a lot of 4ge non-GLS programs, they all will be recompiled to "GLSable" binaries, but I do not believe in miracles and I suppose problems with some of them. Can I connect to GLS database with my old clients, using other language then DB ? For example, can I set DB server (in GLS ISO-Latin2) to consider all clients are in PC-Latin2 coding ? Or any other ideas ?
