Informix has: 1) Tunable page-size for blobs. 2) Blobs don't get written in the logs (saves space) 3) Blobs don't get read into shared memory (unless you want to) 4) Blobs can reside in a seperate blobspace (DBSPACE), not in the tablespace. 5) Blobs can reside on removable WORM optical disks. Blob indexing will be supported in future (maybe 8.0) releases of Informix. -Snorri
