V11.50.UC6W2X4 Solaris 10 Does anyone have a breakdown of the 'crit_time' and 'flush_time' columns in the sysadmin:mon_checkpoint table? I am trying to generate a report re. checkpoint performance but cannot figure out how these two columns are generated or how they relate to cp_time. For example one of my checkpoints generated these values: crit_time flush_time cp_time 1.716916247 97.33503864 107.4762343 The 'cp_time' value maps directly to the Checkpoint Duration time listed in the online.log. I am guessing that flush_time + crit_time + UNKNOWN = cp_time, but I am not sure. Anyone? MM
I believe, but I maybe wrong, that it maps with column "long time" of onstat
-g ckp
This in turn means the longest time a session had to wait for entering
critical section during the checkpoint (no sessions are allowed to enter
while the checkpoint thread is itself in the critical section).
During the critical section, the checkpoint thread writes the checkpoint log
record and flushed the dirty partition header pages...
Now... to be honest, this is a bit too low level for me (I'm in services,
not in tech support or devel).... So maybe someone wants to correct me.
Please check the output of onstat -g ckp and match it to mon_checkpoint....
Regards.

Mike's post: V11.50.UC6W2X4 Solaris 10 Does anyone have a breakdown of the 'crit_time' and 'flush_time' columns in the sysadmin:mon_checkpoint table? MM Respone: Basically yeah, not everything done in the checkpoint has it's own time summary so you can see the total checkpoint time, and then the time that certain sub portions of the checkpoint take.
