How can I restore one table from ontape

Currently trying to recover a table that consists of an integer and a byte
field from an ontape archive under IDS 7.24. I am told that archecker will not
work with byte fields. This is an old HP9000h box running 10.20. If no tool is
available I am considering restoring the entire archive onto anoter box. If I
do this I know that the config file has to match so I will need to set links
to similar sized storage with the same link name. How close does the new box
have to be to the one the archive was created on? Can I have a different OS
(Solaris, Linux)? different engine (7.31)?
Hi,
In order to restore an ontape archive, you need to have the following
things:
- Device names must be identical, Device sizes should be equal or bigger
than the original
- OS and IDS installation should be the same, though 7.24 -> 7.31 on the
same platform could work.
- Tape settings must be comparable (tape size etc.)
All other parameters (CPUs, buffers etc) can be different with no effect
on the restore.

Same IDS version, same OS, and same platform (with a VERY small nummber of
exceptions).
