Kerry: Just how do you compile the Informix 4GL code for your clients that do not have a C compile? Can Informix 4GL be compiled without a C compiler? ---------- From: ilist To: internet!rmy.emory.edu!informix-list Subject: Re: How to read Flat files from 4gl Date: Wednesday, May 17, 1995 8:39PM Lots of people wrote: > |> : >-> I have a requirment to read the flat file from 4GL. There is already an excellent document listing about a zillion little things that Informix could do to 4GL to make developer's lives easier. But AFAIK they've no plans to ever do anything to 4GL. NewEra is now the centre of their Universe. > I agree but it's so easy to implement. The problem with C based solutions is that they're hardware dependant. Our company supports many clients each running their own favorite hardware platforms. We can't rely on each client having a C compiler on their machine (remember - they're often optional extras these days) nor can we be bothered having to create custom runners for them all.
