informix onbar onconfig parameters

I have informix 7.23 on an HP-T600 10cpu machine with 2gig of memory. My informix instance has 298 dbspaces totalling apporx. 90gig. I am backing up to a two drive storagetek DLT box using Veritas' Netbackup as the storage manager. What should I set the BAR_MAX_BACKUP onconfig parameter to to get the best performance on my backup? I have tried setting it to 0 and the backup does not complete. I have also tried setting it to 10 and it still does not complete. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
