Windows by default stores services & hosts files in C:\\WINDOWS. Informix expects them by default in C:\\ETC. This can cause some of these problems. Also a good idea to have a c:\\tmp (in addition to c:\\temp) as this is where the sports db log file goes by default. Fun. I got all mine configured and ODBC working as well as NewEra & VPPro, so it can be done. VPPro is smarter than dbaccess on the PC.If you get the tcpip side right (ie can ping/telnet the host) then Ipasswd and Setnet are next. Then VPPro and when it can see the DB server, go for ODBC.
