Hi,
Generally, the first thing I would look at to check where performance
could be improved is an onstat -p. Check on read cache and write cache
percentages. The higher these two numbers, the better. Normally, we would
like to see the read cache rate pretty close to 99% and the write cache
rate above 85% with preferance to the read cache percentage. If it's much
lower than that, then it's probable that the buffer size is to small.
In your case, with only 64 meg main memory, it's possible that if you will
run into paging if you increase your buffer size, and unfortunatly, that
would counteract the benefits of increasing the buffer size. I suspect
that this is where your problem is. Unfortunatly, you will probably have
to increase the amount of physical main memory it improve this situation.
