Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
What are the parameters to be tuned when connecting to Informix over WAN.
I know FET_BUZ_SIZE. Anything else. The client connects to Informix using JDBC.
While testing, we are experiencing severe performance issue when we moved
the database from LAN to WAN.

what are the drawbacks of increasing FET_BUF_SIZE from the default 4K to 32K.
Under test conditions, on a WAN, the performance of SELECTs increased 100%.
The number of packets (as displayed by onstat -g ntu) reduced 7 times when
FET_BUF_SIZE was increased.
I understand that a large value of FET_BUF_SIZE suits only large SELECTS.
For smaller SELECTS it may turn out to be a performance bottleneck. Is this
true. Can we safely increase the value of FET_BUF_SIZE regardless of application
requirement.
