Yes, I've done this and it worked OK. I've never had the guts to do it
on a production system 'though! I do feel that the "approved", safe
method would be to do an archive, swap links, then a restore. However,
this will of course only work if the ROOTPATH points to a link to the
cooked file system, rather than just the name of the filesystem file.
