Visual Basic & ODBC & Informix 5.x

We experimenting with using Visual Basic for a front end to Informix Online 5.x on SCO Unix. The connectivity is provided by an ODBC vendor called OpenLink. The application involved taking a scanned imaged of a check and inserting it into an Informix BLOB field. For some reason, Visual Basic cannot get the image to insert into the database --- trying the same thing using Microsoft Access works fine. Visual Basic can read that data that is stored in the BLOB field by MS-Access. Has anyone else had experiance with this or does anyone have any suggestions?
