IDS 9.x on Windows XP

Hi I have several "Informix 9.40.TC4 for Windows" client machines installed on Windows XP. All connect to a central UNIX server. All is running 100%. But as soon as the network gets broken, the databases on XP go down. I have tried the XP loop back drivers, which seems that works fine, the database on XP don't crash any more, but then the database on the UNIX server cannot connect to the databases on the XP box.
