Does this mean when you start a transaction with "BEGIN WORK" > that you can only have 1,364 statements within the BEGIN WORK > and COMMIT/ROLLBACK WORK statements? No. It means that you cannot have more than 1364 concurrently active transactions at the time when a checkpoint occurs. That means 1364 separate processes all between BEGIN WORK and COMMIT/ROLLBACK at the same time. >2. What will Informix do if there are more then 1,364 statements > within a transaction? Continue as normal until you get into an LTX and the transaction is rolled back. A more serious issue is: what will happen if a system attempts to have more than 1364 concurrent transactions at the time a checkpoint occurs? I don't know the answer to that. I also don't know whether you can have more than 1364 concurrent transactions in between checkpoints -- if you could, you could increase the checkpoint interval to avoid the overflow problem. I hasten to point out that there are not many machines capable of handling 1364 concurrent transactions anyway -- for most machines, it is not a serious problem. These limits may have changed since Version 5.0. Yours, Jonathan Leffler (johnl@informix.com) #include <disclaimer.h>
