For basics it's setting Informix environment variables and exporting them. 1. INFORMIXSERVER=sqlhosts entry 2. ONCONFIG=onconfig file name 2. If the second instance is installed in a different Directory then set INFORMIXDIR to there. 3. If it's a different sqlhosts file name other than sqlhosts then set INFORMIXSQLHOSTS You could make an alias with these settings for all you instances and toggle back and forth.
