This is not doing what you requested, but it's another way to skin the cat. I prefer users not to mess with files in *my(!)* database directory, so I use the following: database XXX end output report to pipe "mail $LOGNAME" end ... ... The report is then mailed to the user, so they can write it to any of their own directories, print or do whatever they like. I usually run such reports from the shell (via an Informix menu) so long reports can be run in nohup mode. Parameters can be collected as shell variables and passed to ACE. An example: echo "Group report" echo "Prefix? (terminate with * ) \\c" read pfix echo "Report for group "$pfix " will be mailed to you" nohup sacego -s group1 $pfix& ** Opinions expressed are my own and not necessarily those of my employer ========================================================================= Barry Toomey Phone +353-1-2822333 AT&T Network Systems Ireland Fax +353-1-2822864 Corke Abbey Avenue, email: bt@irl3b2c.att.com Bray, uunet: att!irl3b2c!bt Co.
