Blocked: CKPT

Recently, after a cold restore (for testing 'ontape -r') on our HP10.20 server (Informix 7.23), engine was stuck in recovery mode (NOT quiescent). NO error message was shown in online log file. Tried command 'onmode -m', nothing changed. The response of command 'onstat -' has the regular message (informix engine level, ....) plus "FAST RECOVERY (CKPT)" and "BLOCKED:CKPT". Informix technical staff re-started the cold restore process with environmental variable 'SINGLESEG_OFF' set to 1, everything worked fine after that. I have the following two questions: 1. What 'SINGLESEG_OFF' parameter does? 2. What 'BLOCKED:CKPT' means? I remember that I read this message before in one of the menual & forgot the solution. THANKS IN ADVANCE !!!!!!!! Kenneth Ma
