The current log - I have a window open that runs a "tail -f" on the current log so I see entries as soon as they happen. 2. Weekly compress - Once a week a cron job copies the current log and compresses it. This also deletes the compressed log from the week before. I only save logs for one week unless their is a bug I am trying to track down. After the log is copied I cat /dev/null over it to start new for the week.
