Poor Performance w/DBTools and Informix

Our company is using Informix 7.22.UC1 with DBTools Version 2 on HP-UX. While investigating some application performance issues, we've discovered that our queries are significantly slower when DBTools is used, as opposed to Informix embedded SQL. Just to quote a couple of examples: To select all attributes from a single table (180 columns) with 10,000 rows: DBTools: 70 seconds E/SQL: 5 seconds To select the same attributes from the same table with an order-by clause: DBTools: 75 seconds E/SQL: 9 seconds Has anyone else experienced such drastic differences between E/SQL and DBTools.
