I can't speak to AIX, but this was a known bug on HP-UX. It has
been fixed in versions of 7.23, 7.24 and 7.30. ontape definitely can
support >2GB backups if the filesystem allows it.
What version of IDS are you running? Bug #76256 is probably
what you're looking at, and tech support can tell you which
versions it's been fixed on.
You can also use the various scripts available on the IIUG site or
you could use a different archiving utility like onarchive (which isn't
for the faint of heart).
