Replication on the same box ????

Hi cid folks, I am having SUN 1000 with SUN OS, I am wondering whether we can replicate an Informix instance on the same box. I know that we have to restore from level-0 archive to start the replication which will try to write on to the same chunks. My question is there any work around for this. Any help is greatly appreciated.
