MSGPATH file - can size be limited?

Is there some configuration parameter I'm missing that allows for limiting the size of the MSGPATH file (usually .../online.log)? I'd like a way to limit it to the last X days of information. Under normal circumstances (database running without problems), how fast does this file grow?
no, there isn't a parameter to limit the size of the MSGPATH file. Since it's a basic text file, you can use the various editors, (vi, sed, awk, etc.) to modify the file through a batch script or through manual execution. If space is an issue, simply compress the file that way you can have access to it anytime you like. The growth rate of this file depends on how active your system is. For example, if your logical logs fill up rather quickly due to lots of transactions, you're going to have a lot of entries in your message log in the form of "Logical Log x Complete" and hopefully "Logical Log x Backed Up", that is if you're backing them up which you should be doing. If you want to see x days of information, simply vi the file, skip ahead to the date in question and then start from there. Or, you can send off x lines of the file to another file thus keeping the size relatively small and thereby meeting your parameters. Best of luck.
