This brings up an issue that I'm dealing with right now. We have a system
that runs fine on 4.0, and gives strange errors on 4.1. It has been suggested
we go to 5.0.
So I'm looking for the some notes on the experiences anyone out there has
had running 4.1 OnLine vs OnLine 5.0. We're running it on AIX 3.20 on
an RS/6000 320.
We've been getting both -408 errors and (I think) -242 "Table not open"
errors. It has been suggested we change our code from:
select bla bla bla into temp t_table
to
create temp table t_table( bla bla bla )
insert into t_table select x,y,z ...
This worked (solved our -408 error), but we still had the -242 errors.
Ended up replacing several "prepare - open - fetch" groups with just
plain 'selects' in the 4GL.
While researching this, someone suggested just going to 5.0, saying that
it's "Just Super", and a lot more stable.
So any thoughts etc. would be appreciated.
