isql & tbmonitor termcap?

Hi - We've been building termcap entries for xterms, at386, etc. using mostly 'tbmonitor' to test it. For at386, we got termcap working with tbmonitor real well, but then when we invoke isql or r4gl, the screen is trashed (no scrolling, clear screen or attributes). Is there a difference between the way that tbmonitor and isql/r4gl use termcap and/or cursor/screen controls? Our environment: full Informix products suite (Star, Online, ISQL, R4GL, RDS, etc. version 4.00) running on Unisys 6000/70 (Sequent S27). Our "terminals" in this case are 386 workstations running SCO UNIX and X-Windows ("xterms" for X and "at386" for multiscreens). Hints, anecdotes appreciated.
