To survive and prosper companies need to make a sustained commitment to, and investment in the process of innovation. Recognising that innovation is the key to the success of today's organisations, the Universities of Brighton and Sussex and Brighton college of Technology are jointly hosting a Festival of Innovation in Brighton from 19 - 23 September. This Academic Corridor initiative comprises a week-long series of conferences, seminars, workshops and networking activities designed to bring about a closer collaboration between the academic and business communities. Festival events are organised around a number of specific innovation-related themes: Innovation and Wealth Creation, Innovation and IT and Multimedia, Innovation in Management and Technology, Innovation in Teaching and Learning and the Management of Innovation, culminating on Friday with the unveiling of plans for the new Innovation Centre supported by the local authorities and the academic partners. Participants will be able to develop practical skills and acquire knowledge drawn from state-of-the-art research which can be applied to any organisation - public or private sector - striving to be innovative. Companies will also be able to showcase their own innovative ideas and benefit from the best practice of others.
