connecting SE 4.10 to Crystal Reports

This week, I worked for a client who has SE4.10 running on an old Motorola UNIX box and they would like to link the database to Crystal Reports. UNIX version is SYSTEM V/88 I'm not at all familiar with SE 4.10. The Informix I-star product and ODBC drivers were released with 5.x engines, right? I know an upgrade is the thing to do, but the client may phase out the application in a couple of years.
