Java would be a better Gee, well Ali if you're going to do this on line, I guess I should pu my $.02 in ..... Using Java as a front end tool has certain limitations but I don't want to waste bandwidth on it right now..... Converting from Informix to Oracle, means that you are getting rid of Informix and moving to Oracle. As Tim pointed out, its a silly idea. You gain nothing. As for managing *larger* databases, I think that XPS in a clustered / SP2 environment answers that issue. If you were going to run in a mixed environment, rewrite your applications to a database neutral front end. Java is multiplatform independant. So is using ODBC, or for that matter, NeXTStep / Openstep will also work. Infact NeXTStep/OpenStep will allow you to have multiple databases working at the same time So you can connect to both databases simultaneously...... My point is, that there are a myriad ways of slicing this cake. Everyone has a *favorite* tool. So lets drop this thread, or at least take it off line? -Mikey
