We are using VB and do not have any performance problems, VB is more popular on the market and it is more easily to find resources. Also it is becoming better and better with each version. With VB it depends which strategy you are using. We do not use data control at all and queries are pass-thru only. We have been using PowerBuilder for several years with Informix as our DBMS with no problems whatsoever. It has no problem accessing any DBMS and has a very good OO implementation! VB is too slow and Powerbuilder is hard to handle. delphi is fast, no problems with all rdbms and a good oo-implementation!
