We had the same problem recently when we upgraded from HPUX 10.01 to 10.10 on
a K200, which destroyed the root disk and lvol information.
We had 2 TBCONFIGs. The first TBCONFIG have mirrored root, one of which was
in the root disk which was "destroyed" in the upgrade. When the system was
restored, we could not bring up the database. We were wondering whether
Informix mirroring was working.
On the 2nd config, no chunks were on the root disk. It couldn't come up either.
However when we dd the first 100K from a copy of the chunk that was taken before
the upgrade, the engine came up ! A comparison of the data from the 2 chunks
revealed some differences.
The HP engineer again said nothing was written on to the disk...
The log was as follows.
