Re: What gives?

Hi Jack, I usually respond to the simple questions by mail rather than posting. Since these are usually RTFM or FAQ material which most of us have been regularly exposed to. A lot of people across the pond still rely on the mailing list rather than News feeds and I just feel that it is an inapproriate to fill up mailboxes that they pay for. Any comments Malcolm. However, this brings me to another point which is about the content that occasionally appears. I'm thinking about unsolicted uuencoded zip files. I don't think people should distribute material in this way and would prefer that people with newsfeeds bear in mind this fact and point to where the information, which was in the public domain, could be collected. I think Kerry and everyone who contributed to the FAQ have done a marvellous job - so sometimes it easy just to mail the person the location of the FAQ. > >Pholks, > >First of all allow me to apologize for a minor spam. I think he does a fanastic job with his #include <disclaimer.h> hat on. Thanks again Jonathan. Would y'all care to discuss this? Should we move it to >IUG-talk? I still believe that this is one of the best newsgroups around - topics have increased some I'm still trying to get my head around eg. versioning consistency control. If I think I can help the poster I do try to help except if I know someone beat me to it.
