When an OnLine is stopped/aborted my advise is, that you check for 1) tbinit processes which is still running (Use the ps command). 2) tbpgcl processes which is still running. In some cases they may be running under the init process with parent pid 1 (Use the ps command). 3) shared memory, which was not removed (Use the ipcs command). If more than one OnLine system on a single machine you may have to calculate the shared memory KEY from the OnLine SERVERNUM. (Use the ipcrm command to remove shared memory segments). 4) semaphores may still exist (Use the ipcs command). Semaphores may still exist with all the semaphores or maybe some of the semaphores was removed when the OnLine was stopped. (Use the ipcrm command to remove semaphores). I would recommand, that you on a development machine, try to see what happens in the above cases - Play around with it - But not in production. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Databaseadministrator Poul Pedersen Kuwait Petroleum (Danmark) A/S Hummeltoftevej 49 Mail: pp@q8.dk 2830 Virum Voice: +45 45 98 45 94 Denmark Fax: +45 42 85 14 18 -----------------------------------------------------------------
