Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

Chuck,
I came across a similiar problem, I think it was about 3 years ago on
Standard Engine 5.00, or it could have been 5.01.
Even though a table was locked in exclusive mode by a process, the
process was still clocking up a UNIX level lock for every single row
updated in the table by the process.
It was recognised by Informix as a bug and fixed in the subsequent
version.
The temporary workaround was to reconfigure the UNIX kernel so that the
OS could handle an unfeasibly large number of locks.
Crude, but it worked.
Hope this helps.
P.S. this was on ICL h/w
