Re: Retreving Insert Statements for Logical Logs
Posted in 2004
We have a tool that does extract this information from the logs - at least
we used to. We sold it commercially until a few years ago when Informix
changed the log format to record only the columns that changed rather than
the complete data on an update operation. However inserts and deletes still
record the full data row and so can still be extracted; updates can also be
extracted if ER is enabled on the table since in this case the full data is
also recorded. If IBM would like to provide a flag whereby the long
transaction format can be turned on/off then we can extract all updates,
deletes and updates. Obviously there may be complications if the tblspace
number no longer exists or refers to a different table since the product
uses this information to obtain the table schema.
It would take some effort to get this product up and running again on later
versions but if anyone is interested then please email me directly.
