Re: Split comp.databases.informix!

I have just returned from 1 week away. I received over 200 messages on c.d.i. I couldn't scan them all so I will have missed many "gems". My own personal beefs about newsgroups in general are the number of people who get involved in personal discussions through the newsgroup. the number of people who reply to replies to replies and include all of the messages in the chain. the incorrect use of the heading to tell what is in the message. Some people don't even indicate they are replying to a previous mail. I really think it is very unfortunate that we as a group of supposedly intelligent people cannot regulate ourselves and act sensibly so that people feel it is necessary to make suggestions like this. I certainly will be raising this issue at the upcoming meeting of the board of the international informix user group. How do we provide an information service to all users that incorporates the spirit of cdi but gives the members of the user group to be a little more selective about what they see and when? If you have any "serious" ideas on how this can be achieved please feel free to mail me directly with them. Unfortunately I will be leaving email contact as from tuesday 28th to attend the meeting.
