The "WHERE" clause contains a condition on both tables prior to the tables being joined. This will most likely cause a full table sequential scan of the second table for each and every row in the second table. Having the "*" at the fron of the fields will also cause every row to be read and the size of the column is larger than a page (even on a system with a 4k page size) so you are also most likely having page/swapping problems. Try joing the tables immediately, this should cut down on the first "answer set" which should significantly spped up the text search. Good Luck Terry Hillick VP. CSCS, Inc.
