(Yes, I know this is a fossilized version. I would love to upgrade; talk to my manager.) I am using 4GL version 4.10.UD1, also on Sun SPARC, for another project. Both versions of 4GL most definitely have the flashing problem, and it is quite an annoyance to my users. Boy do I feel better after: 1. Learning that this is an Informix problem, not a UNIX problem. and 2. Learning that at least some folks at Informix were not aware that the problem was theirs. I first encountered the flash when I ported an application from DOS to UNIX. The problem also appeared on the project using the newer version of 4GL on UNIX. Our local tech guys didn't have a solution; neither did Lenexa. So I thought that the problem was with UNIX's handling of stdout. This seemed to be confirmed by the screen clearing when using the ! (shell) command in vi. Oh well, a lot of my fancy analysis goes down the drain! Alan +------------------------------+---------------------------------------+ | R.
