I would not create my rootdbs near 2 gig. In 7.1 the tempspace can be
allocated outside of root and if you use the no log feature in the
application will not be logged. If you do not create tempdbspaces as
temp then it will default to rootdbs and will log these tables. This
can use a lot of log space. Informix recommends that logical logs
and physical logs set on seperate disk from root. In your case that
will not buy you a lot since you only have really 2 disk for informix
but if you go ahead and set them up in their on dbspaces you can move
them to a different disk later if your application grows without
wasting alot of space in rootdbs. When you initialize use the minimum
number of logical logs (3) and a small physical log and then use the
onparams command to move the physical log and to create the other
logical logs in the physical log dbspace and the logical log dbsapce.
Be sure to create you one or more tempdbspaces and be sure to turn the
temp flag on when you create them. You really do not want to use the
disk with unix on it for informix if you do not have to, but this
might be a good place for some temp space. Most of our applications
we make root 60-100m, llog 200m, and plog 20-30m.
Hope this gives you a starting point.
