ODBC - Informix and M$ Access

We have a brand new informix (sorry, don't know the version) database running on Red Hat 2.1 with windoze clients using 4JS runtime - Informix SE rings a bell for some reason... To populate this database we have some 100,000+ records to enter. The vendor expects us to do this through their interface and if this is the case I will report back in 12 months with progress to date <g> Is it possible to get at the required tables using MS Access and ODBC and if so, what version (currently use A97 but could get A2003) and where do the ODBC drivers come from? Cheers, Roger
ODBC drivers for Informix is found in Informix CSDK. For download go to
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/db2/zones/informix/ select downloads
and choose Informix CSDK from pull down box.
It might be possible that you can do an "insert into informix.table
select ... from access.table". I have never tried.
Another aproach which surely works, is to unload data from ms access in
ascii format, copy the file(s) to linux and then use the standard
Informix tool dbload. To use dbload you must create a command file which
describe the source file and the tables to recieve the data.

should be no problems getting ODBC access. All you need is Informix Connect, which may have come with the Informix engine you have.
