INFORMIX ONLINE 4.10.UE2 vs 1.4Gb HITACHI DRIVE
One of our clients is running an EISA 486 with a SCSI bus, SCO Unix 3.2 as the
operating system and Informix Online version 4.10.UE2.
The original system was successfully running with the chunks allocated to raw
disk on a ????? 660 Mb disk. We recently had a Hitachi 1.4 Gb disk added and
had allocated the raw disk to 4 informix chunks (2 x 50 Mb, 1, 800 Mb,
1 x 500 Mb).
Not long after begining normal operations we started getting ISAM errors
(cannot find system catalogs) and turbo.log has "bad page" errors.
eg:
07:58:50 bfcheck: bad page: pg_addr 323af8 != bp->bf_pagenum 205578, userp = 80401d74, pid = 4408, uid = 227

We tried replacing the disk drive as we thought this may be the problem but
the same errors re-occurred. After contacting Informix support in Australia
we tried using cooked unix files instead of raw disk as they suggested.
This time we could not even import our database (using dbimport) before
similar errors occurred.
Is there anybody out there who has come across a similar problem or who may
have some suggestions.
This is unfortunately supposed to be a solution to another problem - and is
causing much grief due to the fact it is the clients production system.
Any help is appreciated ASAP!!!
Many thanks,
Darryl.
